ABOUT Us & what we do!

Follow us in our journey to become a 501(C)3 certified Non-profit Rescue. We strive and work hard to give the surrendered a chance to be loved again.

Our purpose here at H & G’s Reptile Foster is to find new experienced homes for neglected/surrendered reptiles. We will take in any mistreated/surrendered reptile if we have the space, rehab them , and re-home them with a care sheet, vet invoice - if provided-and a $130 adoption fee. Our passion for reptiles is what makes their lives better. We strive to provide the best care for our reptiles to make sure they are happy and healthy. Whether it is husbandry, lighting and or food. Choosing us increases the survival rate for all reptiles whether it's a lizard or a snake. We provide everything.

We will try to re-home as many as we can. But not all will find homes due to extent of neglect. Neglect is something we do not tolerate and we wanna try our hardest to increase the survival rate. We will love every reptile that comes through the facility and give them the care and love they truly deserve. Sometimes unfortunately, if a reptile seems to be suffering for quite some time we will humanely put them down at a reputable vet.

That’s why research for our scaly, slithery friends is a must. That way they can enjoy the life they were supposed to have. The life they are wanting is something we can provide.

Reptiles are the second most neglected animal in our state.  We wanna make sure you know everything about your reptile before adopting. We will provide care sheet for any reptile you need. Care sheets will be sent to you personally.

Adoption is our biggest success. Most of our reptiles won't be adopted out if we feel like they will be bred or used for something terrible. With Adoption, a contract is needed to be filled out. The contract is a way to let us know You have exceptional knowledge on the reptile you are adopting. If you refuse to fill out a contract we will not adopt them out.  We take a lot of pride in what we do to make sure they are going to a good home.

RIp MArble

If you are new, you probably never knew Marble. Marble was found in a breeder shack abandoned with Mites and a respiratory infection (RI). She was rescued February 2, 2022 in Covington,LA at Northshore Reptiles when the owner went to Jail over 4+ months ago - leaving over 25 snakes to die in a shack. We immediately started treatment, but after a while we saw there was more damage done and decided to humanely put Marble down on April 28, 2022 at Ponchatoula Animal Hospital on Hoover Road.

Marble was a sweet girl, but because she had to be forced fed and needed assistance in excretions, we felt as if that wasn't going to benefit her the rest of her life. She had more complications like weak skin that easily tore up and bled when she would rub it on something, which would cause awful wounds to crust up. She was severely weak and thin. Her weight was never consistent; it was always fluctuating.

If you would like to send your condolences, please do so by contacting us, or sending a letter to the address provided.
