Rats are fun small mammals that love to explore, spend time with their owners, and  spend time with other rat mates.  They are very social creatures and require a strict diet of rat food and a protein source such as cat or dog food. They need about 75% rat food (WE RECOMMEND OXBOW), 15%-20% protein, and about 5%-10% fruits and vegetables. Rats love to climb up and down, and side to side;  so a large midwest nation ferret cage can be the perfect home for them. They sleep over 12+ hours a day and are mostly scavengers at night, but will enjoy playing in the day time.  They can be great class pets, and or a personal pet. They are constantly grooming themselves and stay clean like cats do. They don't shed, but sometimes require an oatmeal bath every now and then. When they are stuck at home while your away, provide them a 12"-20" rat wheel to run on! You will never get bored with RATS :)
